    Save Recipe

We spent a lot of time planning the big feast on Thanksgiving day, but what about Thanksgiving breakfast?

    Breakfast?! What?!

Yep, your people are going to want to eat when they wake on Thanksgiving morning, right when you’re busy cooking and prepping for the big, special meal. Get ahead of it but planning some festive, but easy breakfasts for Thanksgiving morning.

    Why It Matters

It’s practical. People are going to need to eat. You could throw a box of cereal at them and call it good, but it’s a special day! Speaking of which…

It’s hospitable. Whether you have house guests or not, extending hospitality to the people under your roof is never a bad idea. Thanksgiving breakfast is a great occasion to love on your people.

It’s fun. Who doesn’t love a fun breakfast? Plan for it now and it will feel easy-peasy.

It’s a great way to save money. Planning an easy breakfast for Thanksgiving Day will likely save you money. Sure, you could send someone out for donuts, but have you seen the prices these days?! Yikes. Do Thanksgiving on a budget when you plan an easy breakfast.

What’s an Easy Breakfast for Thanksgiving Day?

I typically spend a fair amount of time baking on Wednesday while on Thursday I’ve got lots of last-minute prep and crucial timing to do for the big turkey dinner. I need an easy breakfast for Thanksgiving Day.

    This means that it:

    • can be made ahead or even frozen in advance
    • doesn’t take up a ton of fridge space since that’s already a game of Jenga, balancing the many courses of the main meal
    • works for any number of diets since we’ve got family coming who may eat differently than we do
    • can be delegated to someone else to serve since I might be busy prepping other foods

Our family always makes the Turkey Cinnamon Rolls. They are one of the fun Thanksgiving activities for kids we’ve always done, even now that they’re all adults.

I prep the dough while I’m doing all the other baking on Wednesday. Then we bake them off in the morning and serve with an easy egg bake, fresh fruit, and yogurt.

Pro Tip: Consider these Make-Ahead and Freeze Thanksgiving Side Dishes so that you have more time to sit and enjoy the morning meal with your people.

Easy Breakfast Recipes for Thanksgiving Day

After years of raising six kids as well as hosting many people over the holiday, I’ve landed on breakfast ideas that are easy on me as well as my wallet.

Think: French toast bake, your mom’s famous coffee cake recipe, freezer-friendly cinnamon rolls, your family’s favorite breakfast casserole recipe.

Remember you can freeze muffins as well as scones so that it’s just a matter of heating the oven, laying out a fruit tray and some yogurt cups.
