It may be easy to pick up a jug of lemonade from the grocery store, but the flavor just isn’t there. It’s not fresh and vibrant like homemade lemonade. Try this foolproof recipe for Ginger Lemonade for an amazingly refreshing drink you’ll love serving all summer long!

Ever since we paid off all that debt in the last recession, making homemade drinks has been my go-to strategy for enjoying delicious beverages on a budget. It tastes better and is so much cheaper than the high-fructose whatever-you-call-it at the store!

    Why Make This

It’s easy. Mix together homemade (or commercial) ginger syrup with fresh lemon juice and water. Ta-da! It’s mixed in a flash!

It’s delicious. You get all the sweet-tart goodness of lemonade combined with the spicy zing of ginger. Serve over ice cubes or lemon cubes for a cooling beverage.

    Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make Ginger Lemonade:

ingredients to make ginger lemonade on white table.

lemon juice – I prefer juicing fresh lemons in this recipe since it’s got a more vibrant taste than bottled. That said, use what you have. Shopping the kitchen saves money!

ginger syrup – This homemade ginger syrup is made by simmering fresh ginger root with sugar and water to make a ginger-flavored simple syrup. You can use a commercial syrup if you’re in a hurry or if you need to use up the rest in a bottle. It’s delicious in Homemade Ginger Ale as well.

water – You can use flat water or sparkling water or club soda, whichever you prefer.

ice cubes – It’s always nice to serve Ginger Lemonade over ice. Consider making Lemon Cubes for a fancy touch.

    Variations

    • Ginger Tea Lemonade – use cold, brewed iced tea for half of the water. Green tea is a fantastic combo.
    • Strawberry Ginger Lemonade – make our Strawberry Lemonade but substitute ginger syrup for the sugar in the recipe.
    • Medicine Ball Tea – add to this fan favorite tea for a boost of ginger flavor.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

It’s so easy to make Ginger Lemonade!

Simply stir together lemon juice and syrup, adding water to taste. Serve over ice.

Serving Tips to Make this Special

There are so many fun ways to zhuz up your Ginger Lemonade. Consider one or more of these options to make the presentation even more appealing:

    • rim the glasses with crushed candied ginger.
    • serve with lemon ice cubes and/or lemon slices.
    • include colorful straws or paper umbrellas.
    • freeze in popsicle molds for a fun, cooling treat.

    What to do with Leftovers?

Store Ginger Lemonade in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freeze in ice cube trays to add to ice tea or more lemonade for a fun addition to future drinks.
