It’s been a day. Chasing kids, cleaning up messes.
Errands. Traffic. Long lines.
And now? Now you have to make dinner!
But what?! One kid likes this, the other wants something completely different. And you’re not sure you have the energy to make anything more than frozen pizza or chicken nuggets. Or cave and get expensive take-out. Ugh.
I get you.
Really, I do.
As a mom to six kids, I know what it means to be busy – and short on cash.
During the last recession, my husband & I paid off over 60k in debt. We didn’t win the lottery or get any big raises. In fact, we were a one-income family with a 6th baby on the way. Instead of a windfall of cash, we dug out of debt, largely by changing how we shopped and cooked.
I developed strategies that allowed us to stretch our $100/week grocery budget so that we ate like kings. These strategies have become the Good Cheap Eats System, one that has helped hundreds of families do more with their money so that they have extra for bigger goals, such as college savings, home remodels, car purchases, and debt-repayment.
New to Good Cheap Eats? I’m so glad you’re here! I started this blog when there were few resources out there to help harried moms navigate life on a budget with kids’ appetites to please.
Back then, the mantra from the money gurus was “beans and rice, rice and beans,” but after a few months of the same old, same old, I wanted something different and so did my family.
I’m here to help YOU in ways I wish there had been someone to help me. Be sure to subscribe to my weekly emails for new content and real life updates on how I’m managing my life as mom in the kitchen.
Take Care of You
You don’t raise six kids on a budget without learning a thing or two about fatigue. So, my first advice is to take care of you. Make sure that you’re enjoying great meals that YOU like.
Keep It Simple, Sister
Don’t run yourself ragged as a short order cook when it comes to feeding your family. Make things easy on yourself. You’ll be happier, and so will your family.
Save More Time & Money
Take our signature meal planning and prep course for moms, the Mom’s Kitchen Survival Workshop. Designed to help you ease your school year stress and streamline your time in the kitchen, MKS will set you up with a plan to make the most of meal times this year.
