If you’re looking for a fun, gourmet style pizza, you’ve come to the right place! We love homemade pizza, especially this one!
I’ve been making Homemade Pizza every week ever since we were paying off debt during the last recession. Making it myself has been a great way to save money at the same time as enjoying some really primo pizza. There’s nothing like the savory aroma of pizza baking on a hungry night.
This Jalapeno Pizza is one of our very favorites!
Why Make This
It’s delicious. With a combo of vegetables and chicken, this Jalapeno Pizza is packed with flavor.
You can adjust it however you like. Making homemade pizza means that you can adjust the ingredients to suit your tastes. Prefer pickled jalapenos? Go for it. Want more cheese? Pile it on.
It’s easy! You don’t need a fancy pizza oven or even a special pizza peel and stone. A simple baking sheet or pizza screen works just great.
Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make Jalapeno Pizza:
pizza dough – Homemade pizza dough is super easy to make, but you can use frozen dough, a prebaked base, or fresh dough from the grocery store.
olive oil – Instead of traditional pizza sauce, I love to use a brushing of olive oil and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes on the base.
chicken – This pizza is delicious with cooked and cubed chicken, but you can use any protein you like, such as Taco Meat, a cup of pulled pork, or this really delicious shredded beef. It’s also good as a vegetarian pizza as well.
jalapeno – Use one to two thinly sliced jalapenos to layer across the pizza.
veggies – I like to use diced tomatoes, sliced onion, sliced black olives, fresh cilantro, and an after-bake topping of chopped avocado.
cheese – Both cheddar and mozzarella cheese are delicious atop this pizza. Remember you can freeze cheese if you have extra.
Variations:
For a jalapeno popper pizza, add cubed cream cheese, freshly ground black pepper, and cooked, crumbled bacon.
Other tasty toppings on this pizza include pineapple tidbits or pepperoni slices. If you’ve got leftover Jalapeño Cream Cheese Dip, definitely add it!
Step-by-Step Instructions
Here’s how to make Jalapeno Pizza:
- Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan or screen with nonstick cooking spray. Fit the pizza dough into the pan, stretching to fit.
- Spread enough olive oil across the dough to cover. Sprinkle red pepper flakes to cover. Sprinkle the chicken, jalapeno slices, chopped tomato, sliced onion, and sliced olives in layers over the pizza’s surface. Sprinkle the cheeses over the top.
- Bake the pizza for 8 to 9 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is crisp. Remove to a cutting surface to slice. Serve with fresh cilantro and fresh avocado.
Leftover pizza is good, refrigerated for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave, air fryer, or oven.
To make this as a freezer meal kit: package the dough separately from the toppings that can be frozen: chicken, sliced jalapeno, onions, olives, and cheese. Add the olive oil, pepper flakes, and tomato when you assemble the Jalapeno Pizza.

This is the recipe that our family’s version of chicken pizza originated from…though it hardly resembles it now!! It started when I didn’t have the fresh tomatoes, onion, or jalapeño…so I subbed a can of drained mild Rotel. Then, one time I had no chicken except canned chicken breast…so I drained and used a can of that. Then, we always have shredded Mexican blend cheese from Walmart on hand…so that is what we use instead of specifically mozzarella and cheddar. My husband doesn’t like olives and we rarely have fresh cilantro on hand…so those got left off. Eventually when our little son started joining in with us on pizza night he deemed it too spicy, so we toned it down by leaving off the red pepper flakes!! So now it bears little resemblance to your jalapeño burn pizza…but that is how our easy go-to chicken pizza got its start. Everything we put on it now with the exception of the cheese is stocked in the pantry…and we usually have cheese on hand in the fridge. By making our pizza dough in the bread machine, our chicken pizza is an easy fix without having to shop (cause we almost always toss a couple cans of Rotel and a couple cans of canned chicken in the cart when we grocery shop…just so we never run out).
