    • Easy Crostini Recipes

Who knew that toast could be so much fun?!

I have a precious memory of my daughter when she was 8 years old. I was in the habit of buying bags of sliced baguette on clearance, and she would jump up and down, asking if she got to make the toasts. She also knew how to make the tomato salad to go on top.

    Clever girl.

Crostini, toasted mini bread slices, can be topped with any number of toppings, from smoked salmon and cream cheese to olive bruschetta to creamy goat cheese crostini drizzled with a balsamic glaze.

These Crostini Appetizers can be as simple or as complex as you like them. They are simple, delicious, and so quick to prepare for a holiday do, NYE Mocktail party, or a simple snacky dinner with the fam. They are fun to serve with game night snacks.

    Why Make Crostini Appetizers

They are easy. Seriously. Toast makes a perfect base for any number of toppings. Making crostini is as simple as toasting bread and topping it with something yummy. You are going to love how easy it is to make fresh crostini appetizers!

They are elegant. When you want to serve something fancy, but don’t have the budget to go whole hog, crostini appetizers are the perfect choice. You can easily prepare a few different crostini recipes and you’ll have a cocktail party worthy of the top celebrities.

They are versatile. You can put almost anything on a crostini and call it good. From goat cheese and blue cheese to roasted veggies, smoked meats, and a balsamic vinegar glaze. Shop your kitchen and get creative with what you have. You’ll save money, too!

Pro tip: I love slathering it with goal cheese and topping with Easy Sautéed Mushrooms!

    FAQs

What bread is crostini made from?

Typically baguette is used for crostini. Sliced on the bias, brushed with olive oil, and toasted on a baking sheet, baguette bread slices are the perfect base for your favorite crostini toppings. Leftover sourdough rye is a great option, too!

Can you serve crostini appetizers cold?

The crostini toasts themselves can be served warm, cold, or room temperature. However, the Crostini toppings can vary. If you are serving a tomato bruschetta, it can be cold or room temperature. However, a goey Brie bite is best served hot or warm.

Can crostini be made ahead of time?

Crostini toasts can be made ahead of time up to 3 days. Just store them in an airtight container without the toppings.

How do you toast the baguette slices? Do you use a toaster oven or put them in the oven?

I’ve done both, depending on how many I want to toast and how hot it is. The toaster oven seems to be better on hot summer days. I just keep an eye on them so that they don’t go past golden brown.

I like the combination of Brie and raspberry jam on toast. I get both at Trader Joes and it makes for a great appetizer or snack.
