Any guesses how much all this was? I ended up returning the flowers because when we opened them up they were moldy. Not paying $14 for moldy flowers.
And before anyone tells me to go to Trader Joe’s for my flowers, I beg to differ. Mine isn’t great shakes.
Anywho… I digress. We’re here to talk about groceries, not moldy flowers.
This week was a stock up kind of week. Makes my deal-shopping heart proud.
Before I dig into all the details, let me just say thanks for showing up in the comments section! It’s been fun to chat and encouraging to hear that these kinds of posts are helpful.
There are grocery deals to be had out there, but you may have to think more strategically. If you’re not sure how to do that, I recommend you check out the Save Money Fast 10-Day Challenge. I guarantee it will help you cut back on your grocery spending.
Part of my process and the Good Cheap Eats System is to shop the sales and clearance, which is what these budget grocery haul posts are all about.
Some of this week’s sales at Ralphs included:
- canned beans $2.49 on sale – It’s been lower than ALDI and Walmart but this week is was the same. While I can cook beans, I like the convenience of having canned on hand.
- Best Foods mayo $2.99 on digital deal – This is the only brand I buy unless I make homemade mayonnaise. And we go through a lot, so I stock up. This is the lowest it’s been in probably a year!
- nacho jalapeños $1.49 on sale – we use these mainly for pizza but I also like to add them to sandwiches.
- burrito tortillas $2.49 reg price – I like this brand way better than Costco or ALDi, so I don’t mind spending a little bit more.
- corn tortillas $3.99 on sale – I prefer getting King-Size tortillas for enchiladas which I’m serving at our next Game Night.
- butter $2.85/lb on digital deal with extra coupons – I don’t do the Costco shopping that often (see last week’s haul for my reason) so I’m not up on their latest price. This is pretty cheap, so I’m happy to stock up at this price.
- cream cheese 2/$4.69 full pop – I forgot to get this at ALDI and it wasn’t worth going back for.
- various crackers $1.99 on digital deal – This is something that we like to keep on hand for Snacky Lunches. They tend to be fresher than ALDI.
- Wasa Crisp Creations $5.49 full pop – I paid a ridiculous amount for these, but it was my one splurge this week. They’re new and I wanted to try them in a weekend cheese board.
- bananas $0.69 full pop
- cuties $3.49 on digital deal – The last batch from Ralphs was good, the last batch from ALDI wasn’t. Here’s hoping Ralphs streak continues.
- potatoes $3.99/5lb full pop – ALDI was out of potatoes and Ralphs was out of 10# bags. Easter requires potatoes of some kind so there we are.
- cocktail shrimp $3.99 digital deal – These usually sell out right away, but there was plenty for me to get the limit of five. They are a great easy protein to keep on hand.
- cheese 2#/$5.99 – I am riding the wave of cheese sales until it breaks. We go through it fairly quickly, but it also lasts a long time. I buy the limit every time at this price now that ALDI’s regular price is higher.
- frozen potatoes $2.49 digital deal – This was a better deal than last week’s $3.49 for brand name, but it evens out to a still decent price.
As I mentioned the meat department was a score (again). Bryan and I discussed it and as long as we have the space, I’ll keep buying the meat deals.
Fun fact: for months the best price for ground meat was for ground turkey so that’s what I made tacos with each week. This week everyone in the fam commented how good the taco meat was. Haha! That’s because it was beef!
- chicken was on BOGO so I got legs for $1.24/lb – Bryan will grill these for a weekend meal with my spicy chicken rub.
- uncured bacon – $3.24/12 oz marked down- This was a major score. They had a ton marked down at this price. Except for the package I burned when I came home, it will be delightful.
- extra lean ground turkey $3.15/lb marked down – Same with this markdown. There was lots. I put them in the freezer.
- burger patties $3.98/1.2lb marked down – Another good marked down price, again to the freezer.
- 80/20 ground beef – $6.60 to $6.83/2lb marked down – Not sure why the packages weren’t all priced the same, but even the higher price was good.
- 80% angus ground beef $3.89/lb marked down– again freezer
All that from Ralphs was $235.
ALDI
I also popped into ALDI for the fresh produce and some dairy and other basics. I usually buy what looks good and is a good price.
This cart was $128 and included chicken, cheese, pasta, tomatoes, cream, eggs, and bread.
Total spent this week was $363, bringing me up to $1156 for the month. Seeing as the freezer is almost full of meat, I’m way okay with that.

Looks like a great week. Funny that everyone commented on the taco meat made with ground beef and not turkey!
What do you use the frozen potatoes for the most? What recipe am I missing? I’ve never used them! I usually make breakfast potatoes with leftover baked potatoes (after reading it here a long time ago, I think.)

Wow! Great deals! You pointed out a couple of things on sale at Kroger that I will pick up myself this week. Thanks for sharing these hauls.
