Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make Easter Pretzels:
pretzel rings or twists – We tested Easter Egg Nest Pretzels with both pretzel rings and pretzel twists. Both work great. You can use pretzel snaps, but the shape won’t quite be “nest-like”.
green candy melts – round candy melts are perfect for holding these treats together as well as representing “green grass” in a nest or Easter basket.
candy coated eggs – We used Cadbury Mini Eggs, but you could also use Robin’s Eggs or M&M Eggs.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Here’s how to make these cute Easter Pretzels:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Lay out the pretzels on the prepared baking sheet. Top each one with a green candy melt.
- Place the baking sheet in the hot oven for 1 to 2 minutes, just until the candy starts to melt.
- Remove the tray from the oven and immediately press the candies into the green candy melt. Allow the green candy to harden completely before removing the pretzel “nests” from the tray.
Variations
There are several different ways to craft Easter pretzels. Try these options as well:
Easter Bunny Pretzels – use pretzel twists, white candy melts, and pastel M&Ms. Once the candy melt is soft, place one M&M flat near the bottom of the candy melt and insert two M&Ms on their sides to resemble ears.
Spring Flower Pretzels – use pretzel snaps, white candy melts, and pastel M&Ms. Once the candy melt is soft, place one color M&M in the center and six M&Ms of another color around that one to resemble flower petals.
FAQs
These candy pretzels are good, covered, for about a week, stored at room temperature.
Short term, it’s fine to store these at room temperature. In hotter weather, store them in the fridge in an airtight container.
Freezing can do weird things to the chocolate, causing the fat particles to separate and cause blooming or white marks on the surface. It will still be safe to eat, just not as cute.
