Sales were not amazing this week, so I did a quick trip into Ralphs as well as a Walmart pickup to save both time and money. Here’s what we ended up getting:

Life was really full the weekend of the 25th, so this post is a bit late in coming. And to be honest, the sales and markdowns weren’t all that exciting, but for the sake of consistency, I decided to share this budget grocery haul anyway.

First I went to Ralphs were I grabbed the digital deals, buttermilk, and a smattering of mark downs:

    • hummus – $1.57 marked down – I put it all in the freezer
    • fresh strawberries – 2#/$4.99 weekly digital deal
    • buttermilk – $3.79 full price
    • deli ham – $2.88 marked down
    • cherry tomatoes – $1.99 digital deal – these turned out to be horrible quality
    • cream cheese – $0.99 marked down
    • ready to bake cookies – $1.09 marked down – see what I did with them.
    • milk – $3.29 digital deal
    • mashed avocado – $2.02 marked down
    • sour cream – $1.99 marked down

    Total spent $58

walmart bags in back of van.

I will sometimes do a Walmart pickup to save time. Since it’s fairly competitive with ALDI prices, it generally is a money-saving app as well.

    • jalapeños $1.32/pound
    • king size tortillas $2.67
    • baking spray $3.50
    • baking spray $3.44
    • red wine vinegar $3.12
    • enchilada sauce $3.17/can
    • unbleached flour $9.58/10# bag
    • bread flour $6.08/5# bag
    • russet potatoes $5.24/10#
    • shredded carrots $1.87/bag
    • lime juice $1.42
    • tomato sauce $1.06
    • cole slaw mix $2.18/bag
    • dry beans $1.08/lb
    • almond milk $2.56
    • sugar $3.46/4# bag
    • whole carrots $4.46/5#
    • limes $0.25 each
    • rum $10.32 to make homemade vanilla
    • mushrooms $2.08
    • chicken breast $2.67/lb

    Total spent $103

Thanks to several weeks of really great sales and markdowns at Ralphs and regularly great prices at ALDI for produce, I spent just $1317 for the month of April. That’s pretty awesome!
