As the winter and holiday season approaches, we’re going to be seeing more sales on roasts and whole birds. My kids, self-proclaimed meat-atarians, love this. But, I can’t afford to let them fill up on meat, nor is it that good for them. Having tasty side dishes with a variety of textures, colors, and flavors is a great way to complement your roasted or braised meats.

Try out some of these this week and for your next holiday meal:

Simple Rice Pilaf

Quinoa Pilaf

Easy Garlic Green Beans

Sauteed Corn with Fresh Thyme

Butternut Squash Puree

  1. These look delish!! I eat quinoa alot and never thought to have it like a pilaf. I have seriously bookmarked each and every one.

I’ve never commented on your blog, but I wanted to say that I do really enjoy the ideas you share. I think about things and have some very similar tastes, so I find many things that resonate for me in what you share. Thanks for all the good ideas! I’ll make a note of these side dishes because that’s always a hard one for me–knowing what to make other than the main dish.
