Have you tried this in a bread machine? I just know I’m more like to make it in the machine than bake it in the oven. Maybe on the whole wheat setting? And have you tried it with all whole wheat? I know it will be more dense, but since I only ever use whole wheat, my family doesn’t really know the difference.

I added 2T cinnamon to the dry mixture and beat in about 1 C of raisins just before the all purpose flour (reduced flour by 1/4 C since raisins absorb some liquid). 3 of 4 kids love it. The one who objected said she didn’t like the raisins. Next time I may do a loaf with and one without. Thanks for the great recipe! Quick, easy, and delicious!

This looks great! My kids love cinnamon raisin English muffins, but we rarely buy them due to their cost. Think I’ll try adding some raisins and cinnamon to this recipe.

That sounds great! Let me know how you like it.

I used to be an avid letter-writer too. But then, life and the Internet happened. I agree that it’s cheaper to make your own bread. Thanks for this nice, dense-looking bread recipe.

Do you find glass or metal pans work best? My oven is terrible so I need as much in my favor as possible!

This article from King Arthur Flour is a good one for knowing which type of pan to use.
