There are approximately 775 calories in a cup of sugar so each cup of this will be at least 100 calories. Substituting Truvia for me brings the calories down while maintaining the sweetness with no aftertaste (personal observation). Truvia is high in sugar alcohol which has it’s own downsides so read up on it before you make the change yourself. Remember to use only half as much Truvia or your drink will be far too sweet. Personally I am working on eliminating the sugar altogether and going with the natural flavors. Mint and Lime are both strong flavors so once you get used to things with no sugar you may find as I have that they can be quite delicious without being sweet.

I am diabetic. What can I use as a substitute for the sugar in your Lime-Mint Cooler? And in what proportion to the sugar ratio? Thank you.

Can you have honey? I would use 1/2 honey, 1/2 water is you can do that.
Kristen
Thanks so much for this recipe! My husband and I have been drinking this nearly every day with the HOT weather we’ve been having. I even bought a mint plant and pot!
