Learn to Cook Without Taking a Class

Hubs and I have been scouring the San Diego landscape for good cheap eats. We’ve come up disappointed on a number of occasions. He said, God bless him, “Maybe you’re just getting to be a better cook and so eating at home just tastes better.”

See why I married him?

Anyway, I’m over at Food Your Way, sharing my secrets to learning to cook. I’ve never taken a cooking class, but we eat pretty well over here.

Hop on over and check it out.

  1. I think San Francisco is such a lovely city! It can be rather pricey though :D I’ve always wanted to venture there with my bf for romantic getaway!

  2. The article was great :) :) Just on a random note, that scones with the cream and berries on top looks absolutely delicious ;) :)

Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  3. Fast food has lost all appeal for us. The food we make at home is so much better. Other places are hit and miss. I think it’s two factors – 1. we don’t find the fatty, salt-laden, sugary stuff appetizing after eating healthy for so long. 2. We really have become good cooks!

  4. I love El Pollo Grill in Lemon Grove, some of the best mexican food around, cheap if you get a family meal but soooooo good. I also love La Torta in La Mesa, and if you were lucky enough to get the groupon a few weeks ago then it’s a great deal. The Torta’s are to die for, again not cheap but not pricey for a lunch with friends and you will have leftovers. Where are you in san diego?

@Laureen Botticelli, while not all El Pollo Locos are created equal, we have been to some good ones. I think what we’re looking for, though, are smaller, local places. I will have to look at La Torta.

      Thanks!

  5. Happy weekend! Don’t forget to come over and share a recipe at Savory Sunday!!

Don’t you hate it when that happens? LOL I like to eat out maybe once a week. My family? Not so much. We’ll be out running errands and I’ll say “so, where do yall want to eat?” and all I hear is groans and whines and “do we have to eat out”. Makes me feel good but I have got to teach them to cook too. ;)
